Weds 30th September 2026

At today’s breakfast meeting, Graham Card of Corporate Liquidity Partners drew on his long-term membership of WBG (over 25 years) to give some concrete examples of how this particular networking group can offer benefits that extend beyond the obvious one – that of passing business referrals. He built a list of 10 examples of such benefits, which included the following…
- Early on in his time at WBG, Graham’s wife was trying to sell her house, but there were some structural issues in the roof space. An estate agent estimated £40K of work was needed to fix it, but a fellow WBG member was able to carry out a structural survey and recommend a local builder for a total bill of about £2K. This saving alone has probably paid for Graham’s membership fees over the years.
- A referral from WBG brough Graham his most profitable client.
- He has provided non-members with many speaking opportunities at WBG, sometimes resulting in them joining and thus passing business around the group.
- He has been on many trips to places he may not otherwise have visited, although he was sad to miss one to Budapest.
- He was able to draw on the expertise within the group to help some schoolkids get back to the UK during the disruption caused by the volcano in Iceland some years back.
It’s very apparent that being part of a group that socialises in addition to referring business builds trust that the person taking a referral will do the best they can for that client. Such trust is ever more important in todays business landscape.
