Joining the group this week was Heather Carpenter of Mara Amore. Heather creates beautiful pieces of art using glass fusing.
Heather was bitten by the bug last year, taking a beginner’s fusing course in Chilham. The course opened the world of glass fusing to her, showing that it is both very artistic and somewhat technical. Heather has a long creative background, so the artistic nature of glass fusing appealed as an outlet for her creative impulses. The technical side appealed to the more analytic side of her nature. A perfect fit!
This year she refreshed her skills and started producing fused glass pieces with a view to selling them. Since January she has enhanced her training, created many pieces for sale, set up her new website and engaged in a number of social media channels to promote Mara Amore.
The name Mara Amore comes from Connemara, a region on the west coast of Ireland that Heather and her husband have fallen in love with (hence the Amore). The art she creates is grouped into collections that pick out certain aspects of the Connemara landscape – Lakes & Mountains, the Atlantic Ocean, the pink-tinged coral beaches and Connemara marble. She is also very happy to take on commissions.
