At this morning’s Wealden Business Group meeting, co-founder Lee Fletcher provided a fascinating insight into the world of audiology at Regain Hearing. Lee and his wife launched the company in 2010 after meeting on an audiology course – a natural progression for Lee, whose long-standing fascination with sound technology previously led him to complete a degree in sound engineering.
Over the years, Regain Hearing’s approach has evolved from home visits and hotel exhibitions to fully equipped high street clinics. However, one core commitment has remained constant: offering free aftercare for life. Unlike many well-known high street brands, Regain also tests the full spectrum of hearing using specialized equipment originally designed for pediatric use.
Lee explained how modern audiology views tinnitus: it is often caused by a feedback loop between the brain and the degrading hair cells of the inner ear. By disrupting this loop, Regain Hearing can reduce tinnitus symptoms in up to 90% of cases. They also fit the latest hearing aid technology, precisely tuned for maximum effectiveness—a crucial investment in long-term health, given that untreated hearing loss can increase the risk of dementia up to five times.
