The last Conservative government initiated the Renters Reform Bill, which the new Labour government has evolved into the Renters Rights Bill currently nearing the end of its journey through parliament. Mark Henderson of Henderson’s Letting and Management updated the group today on the impact the bill will have on landlords and tenants alike. It promises to be the biggest shake-up in the residential lettings market in many years.
The detail of the updates is in Mark’s presentation below. Mark emphasised that it should result in safer and better quality properties being offered for rental. However, the extra overhead is expected to reduce the number of single-property landlords as they won’t have the economy of scale to cover the likely increase in costs and administration.
All that will play out in October or November, when the bill is expected to become law. Mark is, of course, available to answer queries and provide advice on mitigations should you be worried about the impact of the bill.
