Perry was born and raised in Essex, and has always wanted to work as a carpenter. To that end he attended college in Southend, with one year full-time then two years on day release. This gave him a good theoretical understanding of his trade, but it was only when he started working full-time that the practical experience grew.
After various jobs, including a stint of “house bashing” with an agency, Perry took a sideway move into managing tool hire with HSS, rising to be a branch manager. He was enticed to a similar role with a smaller company, which didn’t work out. But his wife getting a job in Canterbury gave the excuse to quit and move to Kent, where he found a job with Hewden Hire ending up at the busy Ashford branch.
Itchy feet (or hands?) led Perry back to being a jobbing carpenter, but also offering to share his expertise with students at Mid-Kent College as a lecturer. He now engages with many projects that utilise his expertise far more than “house bashing” used to do, for which he is very grateful. He also has a number of fellow WBG members who have used his services and have been delighted with the results.
