Weds 15th April 2026

Our speaker this week was Roisin Fulton from the Happy You Coach. Roisin is an emotional wellbeing coach working with secondary age children and adults to 24yrs. She works in secondary school as well as in her own private practice and has particular expertise in trauma, resilience building and helping both children and their parents understand the complex feelings and emotions that can lead to unhelpful behaviours.
Her talk with the group used her model to explain how the subconscious mind can sabotage our behaviours without being aware and how this can impact business and the relationship we have with both staff and clients. She explained how we separate self from behaviour and that all behaviour is a choice, albeit one that can be subconsciously governed by past experience and challenge. Experiencing bullying for example was used as a good example of how we might later adapt our behaviours in an unhelpful way to protect.
Roisin’s model focuses on Sarah Davies’ acronym VLR: Validate, Love, Re-educate – a model that serves all of us in working with others.
- Validate: ‘I hear you and I can see/hear/understand your feelings’.
- Love: In business terms, Accept. ‘I accept you regardless and you belong here’.
- Re-educate: Owning your behaviour and taking responsibility to change it where necessary.
Roisin also discussed how easy it is to drop into unhelpful victim modes and how she helps guide people through to the other side. Her talk was incredibly insightful for the group leading to some very open and frank discussions. We look forward to welcoming Roisin back soon.
