Paul, a Tenterden resident, is a noted local entrepreneur who is involved in a wide range of ventures all aimed at supporting local businesses. They include web design, recruitment, B2B exhibitions and co-working spaces such as the recently opened Trading Post in St Michael’s.
Most relevant to today’s talk, though, is Paul’s work on and with local radio. He has presented the Business Bunker Show on Channel Radio for many years, and is involved with Cinque Ports Radio. As a seasoned broadcaster, he knows how powerful it can be for a business to talk directly to its existing and potential customers.
One relatively easy way for you to achieve this is via podcasting. In it’s simplest form it is an audio recording that is made available via your website and/or podcasting platforms (like iTunes) for interested people to listen to at their convenience. It allows you, the business owners, to demonstrate expertise and build credibility. The podcasts are normally 30 or 60 mins long and can easily be pre-recorded.
Paul pointed out that it’s not necessary for your audience to be huge, simply that they are interested in your particular niche. It’s also possible, even desirable, for you to collaborate with other business owners in complementary areas. The Trading Post will have a recording studio soon where professional grade equipment will be available for budding podcasters to hire.
