Kathy Hayman has lived a life full of fortune, both good and bad. Today at WBG she told her story, describing those ups and downs that led her to creating her new business, better Minds Better Business.
Her early working life was at Citibank, flying around the world training traders how to do their job effectively. But corporate life was not really for her, and she started her own business in event management. This was successful, with clients in the UK and US, until the first bump in the road – 9/11. Later in life Kathy went into property investment, selling units in Cyprus. This too went well until the financial crash curtailed much investment.
In her personal life Kathy experience love, marriage, kids…..and then divorce. Just before Covid her mum passed away, and she missed the funeral due to a perforated colon. Many would have just given up, and Kathy admits to struggling. But a chance encounter led her to working with a life coach and counsellor, and Kathy decided that acceptance was a better route to resilience than blame and self-pity. A mind-set that ultimately led to the creation of BMBB.
But even her current business has had it’s rollercoaster moments, with tends of thousands of pounds lost to app developers who disappeared before anything useful was built being the major challenge. But earlier this year Better Minds Better Business was born, and life is on the up again.
BMBB helps small businesses with employees to address workplace stress and mental wellbeing issues. There is a statutory requirement for all employers to support their employees, but many do not have access to the systems and information required to do so. BMBB help with this, offering risk assessments, access to resources, a directory of wellbeing practitioners and soft skills training.
