WBG chair, Mike Taylor, is a chartered surveyor with a long history of plying his trade in and around Ashford. He now works at Sibley Pares in Ashford, having sold his company Taylor Riley to them in 2016.
In this morning’s meeting, Mike regaled the group with some very amusing tales, most of which involved a significant degree of embarrassment to him! More than once he sweet-talked himself out of trouble with traffic police, or needed to explain why he had the starting handle of his first car, a Ford Prefect, up the exhaust pipe!
Mike also had some issues with surveys at rural properties, including being chased by a ram, and falling from a wall into a muddy pond whilst working on a boundary dispute. Continuing the theme of muddy ponds, he also managed a get his foot caught in a floating bosun’s chair on an executive stretch weekend, resulting in him ending up partially submerged whilst he struggled to free himself. This particular adventure was captured by a cameraman from the local newspaper, ending up as the centrepiece of an article about the event.
All in all, Mike has led a very interesting life and entertained the group with his self-deprecating tales.
