The 6th Spirit of Tenterden Festival

20/05/2026 By wealden

Sue Ferguson and Justin Nelson

Weds 20th May 2026

At the Wealden Business Group breakfast meeting this morning, members welcomed Sue Ferguson and Justin Nelson, two of the key organisers behind the Spirit of Tenterden festival. Returning for its sixth year from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th July 2026 at the Tenterden Recreation Ground, this popular community event promises a vibrant celebration of local music, food, drink, and crafts. A central focus of Sue and Justin’s presentation was the festival’s authentic local identity; unlike many modern festivals that are outsourced to commercial third-party operators, the Spirit of Tenterden remains a not-for-profit initiative run entirely by community volunteers, ensuring that the unique character, warmth, and benefits of the event stay right in the town.

The presentation outlined a diverse and exciting festival programme for 2026, featuring live music on the main stage, an array of artisan makers, creative stalls, and mouth-watering street food vendors. From a dedicated real ale festival, cocktail bars, and local food producers to free family fun, children’s entertainment, and arena displays, the event offers something for visitors of all ages. By bringing together regional businesses and community groups, the festival serves as a fantastic showcase of regional talent, fostering deep community spirit while boosting local tourism and engagement.

For local professionals, a major highlight of the festival’s opening night will be a dedicated business networking evening hosted in partnership with Wealden Business Group. Taking place on Friday 3rd July from 5:00 PM onwards, the festival’s Pole Tent will be transformed into a reserved zone specifically for connecting businesses, supporting local growth, and fostering new collaborations in a relaxed, celebratory atmosphere. It provides an excellent opportunity to build meaningful connections with fellow professionals while enjoying the festival’s opening evening.
