Nathan came back to the WBG breakfast meeting this week and took the opportunity to introduce us to himself and his business, in what was a very thought-provoking presentation. He primarily offers support through the use of trauma-informed hypnotherapy. With 15 years coaching experience, 4 years as a therapist and with 9 published books, he has a wealth of experience and expertise in creating long-lasting and positive change.
The work Nathan does with clients is a kind of reprogramming or defragging process, where long-standing trauma is identified and addressed, so that the client can break unhelpful learned responses. As he explained to the group, many of our conditioned reactions as adults stem from childhood traumas (using trauma as shorthand for significant experiences that have a profound negative impact). As very young children we look to our parents for safety, certainty and love. If our actions do not result in feeling this way then we are conditioned to lock away these actions as being harmful, and do our best to avoid them for the rest of our lives.
Using a combinations of techniques, including hypnotherapy, Nathan works to identify, examine and help understand such impressions, and ultimately resolve them in a way that allows us to avoid unhelpful responses such as defensiveness, people pleasing, anger, addiction and many others.
